Villadom has continuously demonstrated that it is sensitive to the needs and desires of our community and the many groups that represent Elwood”. Based on our review of Elwood Orchard, as well as the good faith to the community that Villadom has displayed thus far, we wholeheartedly support the project as proposed by Villadom”.
I am a homeowner down the street from this proposed project, am a parent of four children in Elwood public schools, am actively involved in our district and am educated on our financial situation. I am in full support of this project. I want to ensure that Elwood not only exists for the next 13 years but adds programs for our students, further raises our reputation and increases our property values while reducing the burden to taxpayers so young families can afford to move here and older residents can afford to stay here.
Realizing that the Town’s Comprehensive Plan was designed with laudable intentions to preserve and improve the quality of life and community character, we also recognize that most municipal plans eventually allow for some rezoning, growth, and developmental changes when warranted, to adapt and compensate for updated demographics and social-economic conditions.
Mr. Torkan and his company are looking to come to Huntington, Elwood specifically, to become a neighbor and contributing member of our community.
We believe that all parties concerned will work diligently to resolve, and proactively address any negative aspects to the best of their collective and individual abilities, and allow this development to integrate productively into the surrounding communities, and provide a great degree of ongoing benefits, almost all of which would not be realized if the current zoning was maintained, and allowed to be built and developed as a right.
The time that Mr. Torkan has dedicated to getting to know the community, the many groups that represent the community, its residents, and all of their concerns has been ongoing since we first met in February of 2013. We respectfully request that you vote in favor of the proposed amendment to Horizons 2020 for the application by Syndicated Venture 2013-ZM- 397.
